Outstanding Young Wilmingtonian
For over 60 years, the Wilmington Jaycees have honored individuals in our community that have gone to extraordinary means to better themselves and their community. The award recognizes exceptional achievements or contributions in a nominee’s chosen field, organizations, community, state, or nation. The Jaycees are looking for nominees whose outstanding humanitarian efforts exemplify the line of the Jaycee Creed that states, “Service to humanity is the best work of life.” Nominees must have been 21-39 years old and not have turned 40 before June 1st of the year they receive the award.
Nomination's are being sought for this year's Outstanding Young Wilmingtonian award. If you would like to nominate someone, simply download, fill out and return the nomination form by January 15, 2012.

The individual who is honored with the Outstanding Young Wilmingtonian Award is then submitted to the United States Junior Chamber of Commerce as a possible selection to the Ten Outstanding Young Americans, TOYA. Of the more than 600 young Americans honored, many were recognized before the achievements for which they are now known: John F. Kennedy, Gerald R. Ford, Ann Bancroft, Gale Sayers, Elvis Presley, Dan Quayle, Dr. Kathryn Sullivan, Larry Holmes, Bill Clinton, Jeanna Yeager, KayeLani Rae Rafko-Wilson Richard Nixon, Christopher Reeve, Dave Tiberi, Michelle Tafoya and Robin Hartle.
