| 7 - (Tues) | Celebrity Scoopers - Delaware Jaycees President Tina Macko and two other state board members will be at the Marble Slab Creamery in Newark to serve you ice cream. Twenty percent of the proceeds benefit the Delaware Jaycees. The creamery is located at 1215 Churchman's Road near the Christiana Hospital. |
| 8 - (Wed) | Cindy Foundation 5k run/walk - 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. - The foundation, which hosts a 5k run/walk to raise funds for ovarian cancer research at the Wilmington Riverfront, is looking for volunteers. Folks are needed to help with registration, handing out t-shirts and as course marshals to guide participants and hand out water. For more information, e-mail Ellen Donahue at edonahue@cfg.nef.com. |

for our September membership meeting at the Wilmington Jaycees Clubhouse (1309 N. Scott St.).
Come see President Janet get a pie in her face at our pie themed night! The meeting starts at 7:30 p.m., with pre-meeting social at 7:15. Please also bring toys for donation to Rileys Toy Collection. |
| 17 - (Fri) | Oktoberfest -
7 p.m. - It's Oktoberfest again at the Delaware Saengerbund going on
Sept. 17 through 19. Delaware Saengerbund is located at 49 Salem Church Rd, Newark, DE.
Admission is $7.00 per person. Join the Wilmington Jaycees at this year's festival. We'll meet as a group
at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 17 and take in all that this German festival has to offer. Details about the

Putt Golf - noon to 5 p.m. - Pub Putt Golf in Newark. Game day registration
begins at 11:30 a.m. at Santa Fe. The event will take place up and down Main
Street and will end up at MVP Pat's Pizzeria for an after party. Golf should take from
noon to 3 p.m. with the party from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. There will be raffle prizes, food and a
DJ at the after party. Raffle tickets are available to purchase at check in, and at the party. A team of four can register to play for $100 if registered by August
21 (early bird). After August 21, the price increases to $120 per team of four. Teams can register at
www.delawarejaycees.com. Teams will get custom made t-shirts and trophies will be given out for first,
second and third place teams.
We need teams! Our goal is to get 25 teams of 4. And we need Jaycee volunteers! At this point, we will need probably 15-20 volunteers. Please contact Laura Crozier at lauracrozier00@yahoo.com. |

| 16 - (Sat) | Shenandoah Valley Hot Air Balloon and Wine
Festival - The Annual Shenandoah Valley Hot Air Balloon and Wine Festival is on Saturday
Oct. 16. The wine tasting tent features wines from vineyards of Maryland and Virginia. Admission to the festival is $15 and wine
tasting is $15 for a collectible wine glass that allows you to sample wines all day. However, tickets can
be purchased online for $24 which includes admission and wine tasting. If you are
needing a break from the wine tent there is also festival foods selling non-stop throughout the weekend,
including breakfast items for early-rising spectators and tasty Johnsonville Brats for lunch and afternoon
snacking. Hot Air Balloon Launches take to the skies at approximately sunset (4:30 pm) weather permitting. Staging begins approximately one half hour prior to flights weather permitting. We will meet up early in the morning and commute and carivan our way down to the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. Course - 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. - JCI Presenter is a full day course that focuses on the concepts of creating and delivering an effective
presentation utilizing visual aids and strong delivery methods with a mind towards understanding the audience. Participants practice presentations during the entire course. Delaware Jaycees are hosting JCI Presenter and Jaycees National Treasurer Anthony Colletti on Saturday, Oct. 16, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. For only $40, you can gain valuable experience and training!
